examine the statute of California creating what is known as the "Blue Sky Commission" for the control of business and private corporations in a manner similar to the control of public service corporations in this State and the effect of its operation in the state of California, and, if found desirable, that a similar statute be prepared and presented to the Legislature of this State for its action. I move that this matter be referred to the Committee on Law Reform. The motion was duly seconded and carried.

The Secretary:

J. Newton Fiero, of Albany:

Mr. President, I move that the Secretary be directed to cast the ballot of this Association for the election of the gentlemen who have been nominated as officers of the Association for the ensuing year.

The motion was seconded.

The President:

All in favor of the motion will say aye; opposed, no. The motion is carried, and the Secretary is directed to cast the ballot accordingly.

The Secretary:

Mr. President, I have cast the ballot as directed.

The President:

I declare the officers nominated to have been regularly and duly elected officers of the Association for the ensuing year.

The President:

Gentlemen, I desire to express my appreciation of this renewed honor and responsibility. I have learned through the year that the organization of the Association is so efficient that the President is able to add the responsibil

ities of his office to his other duties without any undue strain. I have endeavored to perform my part in making arrangements for this meeting and to take account of the matters requiring attention, and I shall do the best I can throughout the coming year.

I am greatly pleased at the evidence of a quickened interest in the work of the Association. I confess that I have a very deep desire that we shall have a most effective organization of the whole Bar of this State, so that the Bar will have its appropriate influence in our affairs, and that instead of being content with professional relations of a merely local character we shall have a feeling of solidarity and be more deeply impressed with professional responsibility. We are entering upon a great era, and I believe that the lawyers, as in the old world, will have the chief part in the new.

Is there any further business?

The Secretary:
Nothing, sir.

The President:

We will now adjourn, but no motion is necessary because we all appreciate the fact that we are through except for the dinner this evening, at 7.30 o'clock, at the Hotel Astor.

FREDERICK E. WADHAMS,

Secretary.
