The Binder is to take these 4 pages from the middle of the number, and fold, so

that this forms p. 2, and the Contents p. 4, when the Volume is bound up.

PREFACE.

HE Thirty-second Volume of the Magazine is now complete.

It still aims at affording instruction together with entertaining
reading. Two long Tales, seven shorter ones, and an Allegory,
will shew that we have not neglected the latter. Amongst Articles
under the former class may be mentioned, perhaps, the two on the subject
of the 'Marriage with a Deceased Wife's Sister,' which the circumstance
of the threatened danger prompted us to treat somewhat fully: we hope
our readers will do what lies in their power to prevent such an attack
on the Church and the Bible, as the Bill before Parliament really meant,
from being sustained by the law of the land.

Amongst the Essays will be found some of an historical character,
and one which, unhappily, the death of that true son of the Church,
Dr. PUSEY, to whom all Churchmen owe so much, caused to be written.
Architecture and Archæology have not been forgotten.

We have again to thank many Correspondents for answering the
questions in our Editor's Box, and we trust the information thus af-
forded has not been without its value. We cannot expect, after some
twenty years of continuing this department of the Magazine, to be able
to give to it all the freshness which it had at first; but it is our endea-
vour, as far as possible, in the selection of Queries inserted, to avoid
going over ground which has been once trodden.
