Admiral Gell's fleet, confifts of the following fhips, viz. St. George, 98 guns, rear-admiral J, Gell, capt. T. Foley; Boyne, 98, capt. Otway; Ganges, 74, capt. Molloy; Powerful, 74, capt. Hicks; Egremont, 74, capt. A. Dixon; Edgar, 74, capt. A. Bertie ; Amphitrite, Leda, and l'Aigle frigates. The convoy confifts of five Eaft-Indiamen, and other fhips. The admiral failed with fealed orders, to be opened to the weftward of Ufhant.

The Brilliant, Robinfon, has captured and fent to the Nore, le Poftillion de Dumourier, of 70 tons burthen,_10 guns, 10 fwivels, and 50 men. The captain and many of the crew are Americans.

April 2. Some merchants of Belfast have purchased of lord Donnegal a large tract of ground, now nearly overflowed by the fea, for the purpose of raifing upon it a new town upon a regular plan, fuch as the prefent extenfion of their commerce requires.

From Calais, Boulogne, and Dunkirk, and from every other port on the coaft of France, it is faid, that the English have been removed by a decree of the national convention.

Government have taken up feveral veffels in the river as armed fhips for protecting the coafts and coafting trade from being annoyed by the French privateers, &c, None of them mount fewer than 12 guns; four failed yesterday to Deptford to compleat their ftores.

Admiral Gell takes under convoy of his fquadron all the Eaft-Indiamen that were ready to fail with him for Portfmouth. After feeing them to a certain latitude they are to be left to the conduct of a fhip of 74 guns and a frigate, who are to proceed with them as far as the Cape of Good Hope, and to bring from thence fuch British and Dutch Eaft-Indiamen as are bound for Europe. Six more hips of the line (two of which are fecond-rates) will be put in commiflion from the ordinaries as foon as they can be got ready.
