TAMLYT.-The Furopean cortesponent of the Springfield Republieaa, writing from Elsinou“, Danmark, says:

{lere is slow. Hamlet's grave, evidenti; of rathor modorn date. Of this & Gorman writer says: "A more striking homage has probally never been paid to tho gonius of a poet than when particolar burial places are assigned even to the creations of his im. agination;" while an Eoglish writer, who regards tho mattor in a moxo historical point of view, says: * Ang heap of stoans with Ranic inscriptions upoa them, and said to ipote Haralot's grave, will be in vain searched for hero, even if the ever existed. In fact, Hamlet's identification with this enchanting spot, is, at bes, but a Shaksparcan fiction. Hamlet's country was no: Zealand, but Jutland. Here the namo was pronounced Amlet, signifying madman.. According to the Danish history of old Saxo-Grammaticus, (ha wrote suoat the commencement of the 13th contury,) Hamlet was not the son of a Danish king, but of a famous pirate chief, who was Governor of Jatland in conjonction with his brother.Hamlet's father married the dasgliter of the Danish king, and the issue of tamaria_o was Hamlet.

Hamlet's fa ber was rubacquently murdered by his brother, wbo m31.e1the widow and succeeded to the government of the whole of Jatland. As a a Pagan, it was Samlet's first da'y to areng, bis tathor. The be ter to coaceal his purpose he foiga. ed madness. His uncle suapastieg is to be friguod, sent lain to Ellad, frith a request to the king that ho would put Nemlo: to death. He was accompanied by two creatures of his uncle, whose lotter to the Moglish King was carred upon wood, according to tho custom of the period. "his. Iamlet, during the voyage, con rived to get pogsession of, and so altered the charac era 89 to take it a request that his two companions should be slain, which was acoordingly done on their arrival in England.

Ho afterward, married the daughter of the Eng. lisk king, but subsequeni'y returnod to Jutland, and still soigaicg madness, contrived to surprise and slay his uncle, after upbraiding him with his various crimos. Hamlet then boc me Governor of Jutland, was married a second timto & Queen of Scotland, and was eventually killed in battle. The whole his. tory of Hamlet ig carefully and minutely detailed: but those are the leading historical features upon which Shakepears founded his bjautiful tragody; and rude and disgusting as many of the incidents of Hamlet's life were, the mode in which Shak-peare has treated them is one of the groatest proofs of his splendid genius. According to Saro, Hamlet lived about four centuries before Christ."

SHAKSPEARE.--A document has been recently discovered at Stratford-on-Avon, relative to John Shakspeare, the father of the poet. In rummaging a file of old declarations of the court of record, a parchment came to light, which proved to be a writ concerning the sale of some property by John Shakspeare in 1579. In this document William Shakspeare, the son, is mentioned as the purchaser of a prayer-book. The fact as to the poverty of Shakspeare's father is confirmed by this discovery.
