and supplication, with the wom'en, and Ma'ry the mother of Je'sus, and with his breth'ren.

and brethren, this scrip'ture must ne'eds have been fulfill'ed, which the Holy Gho'st, by the mouth of Da'vid, spake befo're concer'ning Ju'das, which was gui'de to them that took Je'sus. 17 For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. 18 Now this' man pur’chased a field with the reward of iniq'uity; and falling head'long, he burst asun'der in the midst, and all his bow'els gushed out. 19 And it was kno'wn un'to all the dwellers at Jeru'salem; insomuch as that field is called, in their prop'er tongue, Acel'dama, that is to say, The field of blood'. 20 For it is writ'ten in the book' of Psalms, Let his habita'tion be des'olate, and let no man dwell therein': and his bish'oprick let anoth'er take. 21 Wherefore, of these men' which have com'panied with us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us, 22 Begin'ning from the baptism of John, un'to that same day that he was ta'ken up from us, must one be ordained to be a wit'ness with us of his resurrection. 23 And they appointed two, Jo'seph called Bar'sabas, who was sur'named Jus'tus, and Matthias. 24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lo'rd, which kno'west the hea'rts of all men,' shew wheth'er of these two thou hast cho'sen, 25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Ju'das by transgres'sion fell, that he might go to his own place. 26 And they gave fo'rth their lots and the lot fell upon' Matthi'as; and he was num'bered with the elev'en apos'tles.

CHAP. II.—1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with on'e acco'rd in one place. And sud'denly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rush'ing might'y wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3 And there appeared un'to them clo'ven tongues, like as of fi're, and it sat upon' e'ach of them: 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Gho'st, and began' to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them ut'terance. 5 And there were dwelling at Jeru'salem Jews, devout' men, out of ev'ery na'tion un'der heaven. 6 Now, when this was noised abroad, the mul'titude came togeth'er, and were confoun'ded, because that every man heard them spe'ąk in his

o'wn lan'guago. 7 And they were all amazed, and ma'rvelled, sa'ying one to anoth'er, Behold, are not all these which speak Gal'ile'ans? 8 And how he'ar we every mạn in our own tongue, wherein' we were born? Parthians, and Me'des, and El'amites, and the dwell'ers in Mesopota'mia, and in Jude'a, and Cappado'cia, in Pon'tus, and A'sia, 10 Phrygia, and Pamphyl'ia, in Egypt, and in the pa'rts of Lib'ya about' Cyre'ne, and stra'ngers of Rome, Jews and pros'elytes, 11 Cre'tes and Ara'bians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the won'derful works of Go'd. 12 And they were all ama'zed, and were in doubt, sa'ying one to another, What me'aneth this? 13 Oth'ers mock'ing, said, These men are full' of new wi'nę.

:

14 But Pe'ter, stan'ding up with the elev'en, lif'ted up his voice, and said un'to them, Ye men of Jude'a, and a'll ‘ye' that dwell at Jerusalem, be this kno'wn un'to you, and hea'rken to my words: 15 For these are not drunk'en, as ye suppo'se, seeing it is 'but' the third hour of the day. 16 But this is that which was spo'ken by the proph'et Jo'el; 17 And it shall come to pass' in the last' days, (saith Go'd,) I will pour out of my Spir'it upon' a'll flesh and your sons and your daughters shall proph'esy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dre'am dre'ams: 18 And on my servants, and on my hand'maidens, I will pour out in those days of my Spirit, and they shall prophesy 19 And I will shew won'ders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and va'pour of smoke: 20 The sun shall be turned in'to darkness, and the mo'on in'to blood, befo're that grea't and no'table day of the Lord come: 21 And it shall come to pass, that' whosoever shall call on the name of the Lo'rd shall be saved. 22 Ye men of Israel, he'ar these words; Je'sus of Naz'areth, a man appro'ved of Go'd amon'g you by mir'acles, and won'ders, and signs, which Go'd did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know: 23 Him, be'ing delivered by the determinate coun'sel and foreknowledge of Go'd, ye have ta'ken, and by wick'ed hands have cru'cified and slain; 24 Whom Go'd hath ra'ised up, having lo'osed the pains of death: beca'use it was not pos'sible that he should be hoʻlden of it. 25 For Da'vid spe'aketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lo'rd always befo're my face; for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved: 26 Thereforę did my heart rejoi'ce, and my tongue was glad; morę

o'ver also, my flesh shall rest in hope: 27 Beca'use thou wilt not leave my so'ul in hell, ne'ither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to se'e corrup'tion. 28 Thou hast made kno'wn to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full' of joy with thy coun'tenance. 29 Men 'and' breth'ren, let me fre'ely speak un'to you of the pa'triarch Da'vid, that he is both dead and buried, and his sep'ulchre is with us un'to this day. 30 Therefore be'ing a proph'et, and kno'wing that Go'd had swo'rn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would ra'ise up Chri'st to sit on his thro'ne; 31 He, se'eing this befo're, spake of the resurrection of Chri'st, that his so'ul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did se'ę corruption. 32 This Je'ṣus hath Go'd ra'ised up, whereof' we all are wit'nesses. 33 Therefore being by the right hand of Go'd exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Ho'ly Gho'st, he hath shed forth this, which ye now se'ę and he'ar. 34 For Da'vid is not ascen'ded in'to the heavens: but he saith himself', The LORD said un'to my' Lo'rd, Sit thou on my right' hand, 35 Until I make thy fo'es thy foot'stool. 36 Therefore let all the house of Is'rael know assuredly, that Go'd hath made that same Je'sus, whom ye have crucified, both Lo'rd and Chri'st.

37 Now, when they heard this,' they were pricked in their heart, and said un'to Pe'ter, and to the rest of the apostles, Men 'and' breth'ren, what shall we do? 38 Then Pe'ter said un'to them, Repent', and be baptized ev'ery one of you in the name of Je'sus Chri'st for the remiss'ion of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Gho'st. 39 For the prom'ise is un'to you, and to your children, and to all that are afa'r of'f, 'e'ven' as man'y as the Lo'rd our Go'd shall call. 40 And with man'y oth'er words did he testify and exho'rt, sa'ying, Save yourselves from this unto'ward genera'tion.

41 Then they that gladly received his word were bapti'zed and the same day there were ad'ded 'un'to them' about' three thou'sand so'uls. 42 And they contin'ued sted'fastly in the apostles' doc'trine and fellowship, and in brea'king of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fe'ar came upon' every soul and man'y won'ders and si'gns were done by the apostles. And all that belie'ved were together, and had a'll things com'mon; 45 And sold their possessions and goods', and pa'rted them to all men,' as every

man had ne'ed. 46 And they, contin'uing daily with one acco'rd in the temple, and brea'king bread from house to house, did e'at their meat with gladness and singleness of heart; 47 Pra'ising Go'd, and hav'ing fa'vour with a'll the pe'ople. And the Lo'rd ad'ded to the church da'ily such as should be saved.

CHAP. III.1 Now Pe'ter and John went up togeth'er in'to the temple at the hour of prayer, 'be'ing' the ninth 'hour.' And a certain man, lame from his moth'er's womb, was carried, whom they la'id da'ily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask' a'lms of them that entered in'to the temple; 3 Who, se'eing Pe'ter and John about to go in'to the temple, ask'ed an a'lms. And Peter, fastening his eyes upon' him, with John, said, Look' on us. 5 And he gave he'ed un'to them, expecting to receive something of them. 6 Then Pe'ter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I hav'e giv'e I thee: In the name of Jesus Chri'st of Naz'areth ri'se up and walk. 7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted 'him' up; and immediately his feet and an'cle-bo'nes received strength. And he, le'aping up, stood', and walked, and en'tered with them in'to. the temple, walking, and le'aping, and praising Go'd. 9 And all the pe'ople saw him walking, and praising Go'd: 10 And they knew that it was he which sat for a'lms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with won'der and ama'zement at that which had hap'pened un'to hịm. And as the lamo man which was he'aled held Pe'ter and John, all the pe'ople ran togeth'er un'to them in the po'rch that is called Solomon's, grea'tly won'dering.

12 And when Peter saw it,' he an'swered un'to the pe'ople, Ye men of Israel, why ma'rvel ye at this? or why look' ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own pow'er or holiness we had made this man to walk? 13 The Go'd of A'braham, and of I'saac, and of Ja'cob, the Go'd of our fa'thers, hath glo'rified his Son Jesus; whom ye deliv'ered up, and deni'ed him in the presence of Pi'late, when he was determined to let him' go. 14 But ye deni'ed the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be gran'ted unto you; 15 And killed the Prince of life, whom Go'd hath ra'ised from the dead; whereof' we are wit'nesses. 16 And his name, through fa'ith in his name, hath made this man strong, whom ye se'e and kno'w; yça, the faith

which is by him hath given him this perfect sound'ness in the presence of you all. 17 And now, breth'ren, I wot that through ignorance ye did it,' as 'did' a'lso your rulers. 18 But those things, which Go'd befo're had shewed by the mouth of all his proph'ets, that Chri'st should suf'fer, he hath so fulfilled. 19 Repent' ye therefore, and be con'ver'ted, that your sins may be blot'ted out, when the times of refresh'ing shall come from the presence of the Lord; 20 And he shall send Je'sus Chri'st, which befo're was pre'ached un'to you: 21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which Go'd hath spoken by the mouth of a'll his ho'ly prophets since the world began'. 22 For Mo'ses truly said un'to the fa'thers, A proph'et shall the Lo'rd your Go'd raise up un'to you of your brethren, like un'to me; him shall ye he'ar in all things whatsoever he shall say un'to you. 23 And it shall come to pass, that' ev'ery so'ul, which will not hear that Proph'et, shall be destroyed' from amon'g the people. 24 Yea, and all the proph'ets from Sam'uel, and those that follow af'ter, as man'y as have spo'ken, have likewise foretold of these days. 25 Ye are the children of the proph'ets, and of the covenant which Go'd made with our fa'thers, sa'ying un'to A'braham, And in thy se'ed shall a'll the kin'dreds of the earth be blessed. 26 Un'to you first Go'd, having ra'ised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turn'ing awa'y ev'ery one of you from his iniquities.

CHAP. IV. And as they spake un'to the pe'ople, the prie'sts, and the cap'tain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, 2 Be'ing grie'ved that they taught the pe'ople, and pre'ached through Je'sus the resurrection from the dead. 3 And they la'id hands on them, and put them' in hold un'to the next day: for it was now e'ven-tide. 4 Howbe'it man'y of them which heard the word belie'ved; and the number of the men was about' five thou'sand.

5 And it came to pass' on the mor'row, that their rulers, and el'ders, and scribes, 6 And An'nas the high priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Al'exander, and as man'y as were of the kindred of the high priest, were gath'ered togeth'er at Jerusalem. 7 And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what' power, or by what' na'me, have ye done this? 8 Then Pe'ter, filled with the Holy Gho'st, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and el'ders of
