Nulla manet patrui, sterilis matertera vixit,
Deque avia nihilum superest, accedo Bovillas
Clivumque ad Virbi, praesto est mihi Manius heres.
"Progenies terrae!" Quaere ex me quis mihi quartus
Sit pater: haud prompte, dicam tamen; adde etiam unum,
Unum etiam, terrae est jam filius: et mihi ritu
Manius hic generis prope major avunculus exit.
Qui prior es, cur me in decursu lampada poscis ?
Sum tibi Mercurius; venio Deus huc ego, ut ille
Pingitur: an renuis? vis tu gaudere relictis?
Deest aliquid summae, minui mihi: sed tibi totum est
Quicquid id est. Ubi sit fuge quaerere quod mihi quondam
Legarat Tadius, neu dicta repone paterna:
'Foenoris accedat merces; hinc exime sumtus.'
"Quid reliquum est ?" Reliquum ?-Nunc, nunc impen-

sius unge,

Unge, puer, caules. Mihi festa luce coquatur
Urtica et fissa fumosum sinciput aure,

Ut tuus iste nepos olim satur anseris extis,
Cum morosa vago singultiet inguine vena,
Patriciae immeiat vulvae? mihi trama figurae
Sit reliqua, ast illi tremat omento popa venter?
Vende animam lucro, mercare atque excute sollers 75
Omne latus mundi, ne sit praestantior alter
Cappadocas rigida pingues plausisse catasta;
Rem duplica. "Feci; jam triplex, jam mihi quarto,
Jam decies redit in rugam: depunge ubi sistam,
Inventus, Chrysippe, tui finitor acervi."

Cambridge School and College
Text Books,

A Series of Elementary Treatises adapted for the Use of Students in the Universities, Schools, and Candidates for the Public Examinations.

In order to secure a general harmony in the treatment, these works will be edited by Members of the University of Cambridge, and the methods and processes employed in University teaching will be followed.

Principles will be carefully explained, clearness and simplicity will be aimed at, and an endeavour will be made to avoid the extreme brevity which has so frequently made the Cambridge treatises too difficult to be used by those who have not the advantage of a private Tutor. Copious exam. ples will be added.

Cambridge Greek and Latin Texts,

CAREFULLY REPRINTED FROM THE BEST EDITIONS.

THIS series is intended to supply for the use of Schools and Students cheap and accurate editions of the Classics, which shall be superior in mechanical execution to the small German editions now current in this country, and more convenient in form.

The texts of the "Bibliotheca Classica" and "GrammarSchool Classics," so far as they have been published, will be adopted. These editions have taken their place amongst scholars as valuable contributions to the Classical Literature of this country, and are admitted to be good examples of the judicious and practical nature of English scholarship; and as the editors have formed their texts from a careful examination of the best editions extant, it is believed that no texts better for general use can be found.

The volumes are well printed at the Cambridge University Press, in a 16mo. size, and are issued at short intervals.

The following are now ready.
