sistency of professors? Remember, if there were no good coin, there would be no counterfeit. Judge not of the principles of the gospel by its professors; but judge of professors by its principles.

But suppose you continue to delay, what will be the result? You are resisting the Holy Ghost, you are insulting God the Fa ther, and you are despising the Lord Jesus Christ: : your heart will grow harder and harder; and your danger will increase with your years; and if death find you unconverted it will be more tolerable for Sodom in the day of judgment than for you. Do not trifle with eternity. Do not continue in sin. But seek the Lord while he may be found, and call him while he is near. Go fall upon your knees before God at once, surrender your heart to him, trifle no longer; your soul is of infinite value, it is in danger, no one but Jesus can save it, but he is both able and wil. ling. Hark! he calls you. He says, "Come unto me." He complains of you, "Ye will not come to me that ye might have life." He pledges his word that he will receive you, "I will in no wise cast out." Listen to his voice, accept his invitation, believe his promise, and go to him to be saved, to be saved now. Today, hear his voice. To-day, decide to be the Lord's. To-day, fill your parents' hearts with gladness. To-day, sweeten the songs of angels by consecrating yourself to the Savi

SOME ONE TO BLAME.

A POOR, depraved, drunken sinner, on one occasion was led to see his danger and fearful doom. He was filled with dread and alarm, and being fully awake to the value of his soul, the desert of his sin; and the awful nature of hell, he was surprised that he had lived so long in a careless and unconcerned state; and being more surprised that he had been allowed to go on quietly, he exclaimed, "NO ONE EVER SPOKE TO ME OF MY SALVATION." Could it be a fact? It

was a fact. If he had been sick, some one would have sent for the doctor; if he had been starving for food, some one would have given him to eat; or if he had been naked, some one would have found him a garment. But his soul was in that state, he was sick, he was starving, he was naked, yet no one pitied him, no one sympathised with him, no one was faithful to him. He was allowed to He was shunned. a man, a sinner,

go on.
He was blamed.
But he was not treated as

a fellow creature in danger ought to be treated.

"No one ever spoke to me of my soul's salvation ;" and yet there were many Christians

in the place, and Christians who professed to long and pray for the conversion of souls. How many hundreds around us may use the same words? But what a burning shame to the Lord's people that it should be so? Reader, are you a Christian? If so, is there any person living near you that can with truth use these words? What! did you never speak to your neighbour about sin and its consequences-about Jesus and his great salvation? Now, no excuses. You can talk to them about the weather, or the crops, or, if there has been an accident, about that, and perhaps you do; but do you never speak to them of Jesus? Never invite them to go with you to the house of prayer? Never tell them of their danger, and the only way of escape from the wrath to come? Is this kind of you? Is it faithful? Are you honest to your profession P Can you be sincere in your prayers? Can you wish for a revival of religion? Can you have any love for souls, or love to Jesus? Never, never let any one die in your neighbourhood, or even live there long, and be able to say, "No one ever spoke to me of my soul's salvation." Gracious Lord, stir up thy peopple to speak for thee. May they warn the wicked, invite the wan derers, and exhort all by whom they are surrounded, "to flee from the wrath to come."

WHY SHOULD I FEAR?

Are you

ARE you an unconverted sinner? living in sin, neglecting salvation, despising the Saviour, and preferring earth to heaven? If so, you have every reason to fear, for God

is angry with you; all the perfections of his nature are opposed to you, while pursuing your present course; ten thousand dangers surround you; Satan holds you as his captive, and treats you as his slave; death is your enemy, and may be near at hand; the judgment day will be terrible to you if you die in your sins; and the punishment of every unconverted sinner is ETERNAL.

My dear friend, you ought to fear; you are the enemy of God, the friend of Satan, the dupe of sin, and the heir of perdition: your state is most alarming, the law condemns you, the justice of God is opposed to you, and time is hurrying you into an awful eternity. Your conduct grieves the Holy Spirit, sanctions every enemy of God, and merits everlasting pain. You may fall into hell any moment, even while you are reading this book; for there is only the mere circumstance of time, between you and the flames of hell. You are, as it were, suspended over the lake of fire by a mere thread; if it break, you are gone for ever: and yet you are thoughtless, careless, and ask, "Why should I fear?"

Is there nothing in the wrath of an omnipotent, unchangeable God, to make a sinner fear? Is there nothing in outer darkness, in the never-dying worm, or in the fire that never shall be quenched, to make a sinner fear? If not, then go on without fear; but if there is, let me beseech you to attend to what God says; hear him, for he speaks to YOU, 66 Because there is wrath, BEWARE, lest he take thee away with a stroke: then a great ransom cannot deliver thee," (Job xxxvi. 18). "CONSIDER THIS, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver," (Psalm 1. 22). "COME NOW, and let us reason together, saith the Lord; though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool," (Isa. i. 18). "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon," (Isa. lv. 7). Through JESUS is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins; and by him all that believe are justified from all things," (Acts xiii. 29). I beseech you therefore, as God bids you, CONSIDER, BEWARE, COME at once and bow before the Lord, FORSAKE your evil ways, BELIEVE in the Lord Jesus Christ; and then your sins will be forgiven, your personwill be justified, your nature will be sanctified, and you will bo A NEW CREA

TURE.
