Bleffed are the pure in Heart; for they all fee God.

The Lord will referve the Unjuft until the Day of Judgment, to be punished; but chiefly them that walk after the Flesh, in the Luft of Uncleanness, and despise Government: having Eyes full of Adultery, and that cannot ceafe from Sin. These, as natural Brute Beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, fhall utterly perish in their own Corruption; even as Sodom and Gomorrah,: and the Cities about them, in like manner, giving themselves over to Fornication, and going after ftrange Flefh, are fet forth for an Example, fuffering the Vengeance of eternal Fire.

Neither Fornicators, nor Adulterers, nor Effeminate, nor Abufers of themfelves with Mankind, fhall inherit the Kingdom of God.

* No Whoremonger nor unclean Perfon hath any Inheritance in the Kingdom of Chrift and of God.

1 Let no Man deceive you with vain Words; for because of thefe Things cometh the Wrath of God upon the Children of Difobedience.

But if a Man purge himself from thefe, he fhall be a Veffel unto Honour, fanctified, and meet for the Mafter's Ufe, and prepared unto every good Work.

DILIGENCE.

"Let every Man labour, working with his Hands the Thing which is good; that he may have to give to him that needeth.

• Six Days in the Week shalt thou labour, and do all thy Work.

Be not flothful in Bufinefs.

In the Morning fow thy Seed, and in the Evening withhold not thine Hand; for thou knoweft not whether fhall profper, either this or that; or whether they both fhall be alike good.

There are forme which walk diforderly, working not at all, but are Bufy-bodies: Now them that are fuch, we command and exhort by our Lord Jefus, that with Quietnefs they work and eat their own Bread. If any Man will not work, neither fhould he eat.

There are Women alfo which learn to be idle, wandering about from Houfe to Houfe, and are not only idle, but alfo Tatlers and Bufy-bodies, fpeaking Things which they ought not. But a virtuous Woman looketh well to the Ways of her Houthold, and eateth not the Bread of Idlenefs.

Go to the Ant, thou Sluggard; confider her Ways, and be wife; which having no Guide, Overfeer, or Ruler, provideth her Meat in the Summer, and gathereth her Food in the Harvest.

"The flothful Man faith, There is a Lion in the Way.

w The Way of the flothful Man is as an Hedge

of Thorns.

* The flothful hideth his Hand in his Bofom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his Mouth,

He that is flothful in his Work, is Brother to him that is a great Waster.

In all Labour there is Profit; and the Thoughts of the diligent tend only to Plenteoufnefs.

Wealth gotten by Vanity fhall be diminished; but he that gathereth by Labour shall increase.

Seeft thou a Man diligent in his Bufinefs? He fhall ftand before Kings, he fhall not ftand before mean Men.

The Hand of the diligent maketh rich; but the Soul of the Sluggard defireth, and hath nothing.

Slothfulness cafteth into a deep Sleep: and

an idle Soul fhall fuffer Hunger.

How long wilt thou fleep, O Sluggard? When wilt thou arife out of thy Sleep? Yet a little Sleep, a little Slumber, a little Folding of the Hands to fleep: So fhall thy Poverty come. as one that travelleth; and thy Want as an armed. Man.

CONTENTMENT.

f I know both how to be abafed, and I know how to abound; every where, and in all Things I am inftru&ted, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer Need. I have learnt in whatsoever State I am, therewith to be

content.

8 Let every Man abide in the fame Calling wherein he was called. Art thou called, being a Servant? care not for it; but if thou mayeft be made free, ufe it rather.

h Seek not ye what ye fhall eat, or what ye fhall drink: Be careful for nothing; neither be ye of doubtful Mind: But rather feek ye the Kingdom of God, and all thefe Things, which your Father knoweth that ye have Need of, thall be added unto you.

i Afk not Riches, Wealth, or Honour, nor the Life of thine Enemies, neither yet long Life ; but afk Wisdom and Knowledge for thyfelf; and God fhall fupply all thy Need, according to his Riches in Glory.

* Take heed to yourselves, left at any Time your Hearts be overcharged with the Cares of this Life.

I would have you without Carefulness; that they which weep, may be as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they poffeffed not; and they that use this World, as not

Say not thou, What is the Cause that the former Days were better than these? For thou doft not enquire wifely concerning this.

n Let us not envy one another.

The Spirit that dwelleth in us lufteth to Envy; but Charity envieth not.

Let not thine Heart envy Sinners; but be thou in the Fear of the Lord all the Day long. For furely there is an End, and thine Expecta tion fhall not be cut off.

t

Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the Glory of his Houfe is increafed. For though while he lived, he bleffed, his Soul; yet when he dieth he fhall carry nothing away; his Glory fhall not defcend after him.

A found Heart is the Life of the Flesh; but Envy the Rottenness of the Bones. *

Let your Converfation be without Covetoufnefs; and be content with fuch Things as ye have: For God hath faid, I will never leave thee, nor forfake thee.

Take heed and beware of Covetoufnefs. For a Man's Life confisteth not in the Abundance of the Things which he poffeffeth.

"Thou shalt not covet any Thing which is thy Neighbour's.
