THE Introductory Latin Delectus is intended to follow the Latin Rudiments, and is more particularly adapted for those Teachers who use an intermediate Reading-Book between the Delectus and Cæsar or Ovid. The sentences are nearly all taken from the "Latin Delectus, for the Use of the Edinburgh Academy," with such alterations in the arrangement as seemed to be advisable. The Compiler has selected the simplest and most interesting sentences, and has placed them in the order in which, he thinks, they will best promote the advancement of the Pupil. The Vocabulary has been prepared with all possible care, and is believed to contain an explanation of every word, and of every difficult expression which occurs in the book-thus rendering the preparation of the lesson comparatively easy.

As a Sequel to the Introductory Delectus, the Compiler has in preparation an Edition of Cornelius Nepos, with Critical and Historical Notes and a copious Vocabulary, which, he hopes, will appear in time for those Classes into which the present little Work may be introduced.
