¶ Samuel's vision and early piety.

6 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

7 And the LORD said to Samuel,

AND the child Samuel ministered Behold, I will do a thing in Israel,

9 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And Eli said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.

10 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground: and all Israel from Dan even to Beer-sheba knew that he was established to be a prophet of the LORD.

4 But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way: David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself; and said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men's words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy David's loyalty to Saul; and rendering hurt? Behold, this day thine eyes good for evil.
