Exod. xxxv. 30, 31. And Moses said unto the children of Israel, See, the Lord hath called by name Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah ; and he hath filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship. Exod. xxxix. 43. And Moses did look upon all the work, and, behold, they had done it as the Lord had commanded, even so had they done it: and Moses blessed them. Numb. xi. 24, 25. And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the Lord, and gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle. And the Lord came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the Spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and did not cease. Deut. xxxiv. 9. And Joshua the son of Nun, was full of the Spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him; and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the Lord commanded Moses. Acts xviii. 25. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the Spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. Zech. vii. 12. Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the Lord of hosts hath sent in his Spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the Lord of husts. 2 Pet. i. 21. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. Matt, i. 18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise : When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. John i. 32. And John bare record, Saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. John iii, 22, 23. After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judea ; and there he tarried with them, and baptized. And John also was baptizing in Enon, near to Salim, because there was much water there; and they came and were baptized. Matt. xii. 28. But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Heb. ix. 14. How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your consciences from dead works to serve the living God? 1 Pet. iii. 18. For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit. John xvi. 7. 13. (See above.) Acts ii. 4. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. Mark xvi. 17, 18. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In iny name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues ; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them ; they shall luy hands on the sick and they shall
Acts v. 12. 15, 16. And by the hands of the Apostles were many signs and wonders wrought among the people. Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits; and they were healed every one. Acts viii. 5, 6, 7, 14, 15, 16, 17. Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did. For unclean spirits crying with loud voices, came out of many that were possessed with them : and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed. Now when the Apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: who
when they were come down prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost. (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them; only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. Heb. ii. 1, 2, 3, 4. Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; how shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? 2 Tim. iii. 16, 17. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
2 Cor. iv. 6. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Cor. iii. 18. But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory as by the Spirit of the Lord. Ephes. iv. 18. Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. Acts xxvi. 18. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me. 1 Pet. ii. 9. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people;
that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath
1 Thess. ij. 13. For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe. 1 Cor. xii. 13. For by one Spirit are we all buptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. Gen. vi. 3. And the Lord saith, My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that be also is flesh. Luke xi. 13. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give his Holy Spirit to them thut ask him ?
John iii. 1-8. There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: the same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old ? Can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born ? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit. Márvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth when it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, nor whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. I Cor. vi. 11. And such were some of you: but ye are wushed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 2 Cor. v. 17. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become
Col. iii. 10. And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him. Psalm li. 10, 11. Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy Holy Spirit from me. 1 Cor. xv. 10. But by the grace of God I am what I am : and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured mure abundantly than they all; yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Phil. i. 19, For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ. Rom. viii. 26. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infir
