This——the thirty-fifth-issue of the official year-book of the Burns Federation marks the beginning of a New Series. The first number of the work was issued in January 1892, following the adoption of a proposal—“ that the Federation publish a yearly Chronicle”-submitted by the late Mr. Colin Rae-Brown, Vice-President, and seconded by the late Ex-Provost Peter Sturrock, President, at a meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation held at Kilmarnock on 4th September 1891. A volume of the Chronicle has been published in each year since that date.
The annual was edited by the late Dr. D. M'Naught for thirty-three years, from 1893 till 1925; and the Executive Committee of the Federation have resolved that the thirtyfour volumes which have been published shall form the First Series of the Burns Chronicle and, at the same time, a memorial of Dr. M'Naught's long and successful editorship.
