From hence we may see, that if from the sum total of the supplies granted by the last preceding session, we deduct the 800,000l. then granted for the support of the civil list, and the 670,000l. then granted to 18146119 19 the king of Prussia, the sum total of the supplies. granted by this session, will exceed what was granted by the last in the sum of

And as to the provisions made by the session for raising these supplies, I shall observe, that as soon as the house had, on 21 November, agreed to the two first resolutions of the committee of supply, it was resolved, that the house would, on the 22d, resolve itself into a committee of the whole house, to consider of ways and means for raising the supply granted to his majesty; and the resolutions of this committee, as agreed to by the house, were as follow:

NOVEMBER 24.

1. That, towards raising the supply granted to his majesty, a land-tax of 4s. in the pound, and no more, be raised within the space of one year from, &c.

2. That the duties on malt, &c. be further continued for one year, &c.

DECEMBER 15.

1. That the sum of twelve millions be raised by annuities, in manner following; that is to say, that every contributor to the said twelve millions shall, for every 100l. contributed, be entitled to an annuity transferrable at the Bank of England, after the rate of 4 per cent. per annum, for nineteen years, and then to stand reduced to 31. per cent per annum, redeemable by parliament; and also to an annuity, transferrable at the Bank of England, of 11. per cent. to continue irredeemable for a certain term of 98 years, and then to cease; the said annuities of 41. per cent. and 11. per cent, to be charged upon the sinking fund, to commence from the 5th day of January 1762, and to be payable half yearly on the 5th day of July, and on the 5th day of January in every year; and that the said 4 per cent. annuities shall be added to and

ade one joint stock of transferrable 4 per cent. an-uities at the Bank of England, with such other 4 r cent. annuities transferrable at the Bank of Engnd, as shall, by any act of this present session of arliament be charged upon, and made payable out f, the sinking fund: and that every such contributor hall, for every sum of 801. per cent. paid in to the shiers of the Bank of England, upon account of his are to the said annuities, after the rate of 41. per nt. per annum, be entitled to 1001. capital in the id stock of 41. per cent. annuities; and for every im of 201. paid in like manner, upon account of is share of the said annuities of 1 1. per cent. shall be titled to an annuity of 11. to continue for a certain rm of 98 years, in manner above mentioned.

That every contributor shall, on or before the 23d f this instant December, make a deposit with the ashiers of the Bank of England of 151. per cent. on ich part of the sum, or sums, to be contributed y him towards the said sum of twelve millions, as all be payable in respect to his share in the said 4 r cent. annuities; and also a deposit of 151. per cent. n such part of the sum, or sums, so to be contributd, as shall be payable in respect of his share in the id 11. per cent. annuities, as a security for his makg the future payments respectively, on or before he times hereinafter limited; that is to say,

On 9,600,000l. to be paid in respect of the said per cent, annuities.

10 per cent. on or before the 21st day of April next. 10 per cent. on or before the 26th day of May next. 10 per cent. on or before the 23d day of June next. 15 per cent. on or before the 18th day of August

On 2,400,000 1. to be paid in respect of the said 11. per cent. annuities.

25 per cent. on or before the 10th day of March next. 30 per cent. on or before the 12th day of May next. 30 per cent, on or before the 21st day of July next,

Which several sums so received, shall, by the said cashiers, be paid into the receipt of his majesty's exchequer, to be applied, from time to time, to such services as shall then have been voted by this house, in this session of parliament, and not otherwise.

And that every contributor, who shall pay in the whole of his contribution on account of his share in the said 4 per cent. annuitics, at any time, on or before the 18th day of September next, or on account of his share in the said 1 per cent. annuities, on or before the 13th day of May next, shall be allowed a discount after the rate of 3 per cent. per annum on the sum so completing this contribution respectively, to be computed from the day of completing such contribution, to the 20th day of October next, in respect of the sum paid on account of the said 4 per cent. annuities, and to the 21st day of July next, in respect of the sum paid on account of the 11. per cent. annuities

2. That there shall be paid for every window, or light, in every dwelling-house inhabited, or to be inhabited, within the kingdom of Great Britain, which shall contain eight or nine windows or lights, and no more, the yearly sum of one shilling, for every window, or light, in such house; to commence from the fifth day of April, 1762.

3. That there shall be paid for every window, or light, in every dwelling-house as aforesaid, which shall contain ten or eleven windows, or lights, and no more, the yearly sum of six-pence for each window, or light, in such house, over and above all duties chargeable thereupon; to commence from the fifth day of April, 1762.

4. That there shall be paid for every window, or light, in every dwelling-house, as aforesaid, which shall contain twelve, thirteen, or fourteen windows, or lights, and no more, the yearly sum of one shilling for each window or light, in such house, over and above all duties chargeable thereupon; to commence from the 5th day of April, 1762.

5. That there shall be paid for every window, or Tight, in every dwelling-house as aforesaid, which shall contain fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, or nineteen windows, or lights, and no more, the yearly sum of three-pence for each window, or light, in such house, over and above all duties chargeable thereupon; to commence from the fifth day of April,

6. That, towards making good to the sinking fund e annuities charged thereupon, in respect of the id sum of twelve millions, the said additional rates id duties upon the windows, or lights, be carried and made part of the said fund.

7. That, towards making good to the sinking fund e said annuities charged thereupon, the surplus of e monies, which shall from time to time arise from e several additional duties laid upon spirituous lijors, by two acts, one made in the 21th and the her in the 33d year of his late majesty's reign, ter satisfying all payments charged on the said dues, which surplus is reserved for the disposition of arliament; and also the farther additional duties pon spirituous liquors granted to his majesty in is session of parliament, be carried to and made art of the said fund.

DECEMBER 17.

1. That the 41. per centum annuities, transferrable t the Bank of England, payable in respect of the rincipal sum of eight millions raised by virtue of an , made in the 33d year of his late majesty's reign, nd also upon the additional capital of 31. added to very 1001. advanced towards the said sum of eight illions, amounting to 240000l. together with the harges and expences attending the same, be, with he consent of the proprietors of the said annuities, harged upon and paid out of the sinking fund: nd that such persons, who shall not, on or before he twenty-first day of June 1762, signify their disent, in books to be opened at the Bank of England for that purpose, shall be deemed and taken to as

sent thereto.

2. That all the monies that shall or may arise, from and after the fifth day of January 1762, of the produce of the several duties on malt, which by the said act of the 33d year of his late majesty's reign, were made a fund for payment of the said four pounds her cent. annuities, shall be carried to and made part of the sinking fund.

JANUARY 26, 1762.

That, towards paying off and discharging the debt of the navy, and also the sum of 5000001. in part of he supply granted to his majesty for naval service, here be raised, by loans or Exchequer bills, to be charged upon the first aids to be granted in the next ession of parliament: and such Exchequer bills, if ot discharged, with interest thereon, on or before 25

March

March 1763, to be exchanged and received in payment in such manner as Exchequer bills have usually been received in payment

MAY 17.

1. That the sum granted by act 2 Geo. II. upon account of arrears of his late majesty's civil list revenues, and now, by his majesty's direction, replaced and refunded out of the arrears of the said revenues, which were standing out at the time of his late majesty's demise, be issued and applied

That the sum remaining in the receipt of the Exchequer, being part of the sum of 1000001. granted to his late majesty in 1758, upon account, towards defraying the charge of pay and clothing for the militia for that year, and for defraying such expences as were actually incurred upon the account of the militia in 1757, be issued and applied

3. That the sum remaining in the receipt of the Exchequer, which was granted to his late majesty in 1760, upon account, towards defraying the charge of pay and clothing for the unembodied militia, for the year ended 25 March 1759, be issued and applied

That the sum remaining in the receipt of the Exchequer, which was granted to his majesty, in the last session of parliament, upon account, towards defraying the charge of the pay of the militia of England, when unembodied, and of the clothing of the part of the said militia then unembodied, for one year, beginning 25 March 1761, be issued and applied

5. That the sum remaining in the receipt of the Exchequer, being the surplus of the several duties on malt, established by an act, 33 Geo. II. for paying annuities, granted in 1760, after satisfying all charges and incumbrances thereupon, to the 5th of January, 1762, be issued and applied
