A year ago, having crossed the mark “Three-score and Ten,” naturally I thought much of the past. Many recollections were renewed : some of them fraught with merely personal importance; some with larger and more significant moment. Along with these recollections came the wish that you, with others who are genuinely interested, should know more fully of a few of the decisive happenings in my career. Without near relatives now, or any associate sufficiently informed to speak adequately for me, only I can tell of what I wish you to know. |
