ABOUT five years ago, I purchased of the Proprietor, (Mr. W. of Piccadilly,) the Copyright of the Baviad and Mæviad. As the Work was frequently called for, I was desirous of sending it to the press; and accordingly applied, as a customary mark of attention, to the Author for his consent and co-operation, neither of which he was, at that time, inclined to give. As the demand for the Poem became more importunate, I renewed my applications; when he told me, that "reasons of a personal nature forbad "his assistance; but that, if I was determined to reprint it," (which I was fully intitled to do,) "he would furnish me with his Copy for the pur 66 "pose."
