PROVERBS.

HE proverbs of So lomon the fon of David, king of Ifrael;

2 To know wisdom and inftruction, to perceive the words of understanding;

3 To receive the instruction of wisdom, juftice, and judgment, and equity;

4 To give fubtilty to the fimple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

5 A wife man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding fhall attain unto wife coun- purfe; fels:

23 Turn ye at my reproof; behold, I will pour out my fpirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

24 Becaufe I have called, and ye refufed; I have ftretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

25 But ye have set nought all my counfel, and would none of my reproof: 26 I will alfo laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh:

27 When your fear cometh as defolation, and your deftruction cometh as a whirlwind; when diftrefs and anguith cometh upon you:

Y fon, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee;

2 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to underftanding;

3. Yea, if thou crieft after knowledge, and lifteft up thy voice for understanding;

4 If thou feekest her as filver, and fearcheft for her as for hid treasures;

5. Then fhalt thou underftand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of

17 Which forfaketh the guide of her youth, and forgetteth the covenant of her God.

4 So fhalt thou find fayour and good understanding in the fight of God and man.

5 Truft in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.
