Regem, cui omnia vivunt, venite, adoremus

Quoniam Deus magnus Dominus, et Rex magnus super omnes deos: quoniam non repellet Dominus plebem suam, quia in manu ejus sunt omnes fines terræ, et altitudines montium ipse conspicit. Venite, adoremus.

Quoniam ipsius est mare, et ipse fecit illud, et aridam fundaverunt manus

Our Father, &c., in silence. Invitatory.

COME, let us adore the Lord, our king, who giveth life to all things.

Come, let us adore the Lord, our king, who giveth life to all things.

Come, let us rejoice in the Lord, let us joyfully cry out to God our Saviour: let us present our. selves before him to celebrate his praises, and with canticles of jubilee let us sing to him.

Come, let us adore the Lord, our king, who giveth life to all things.

Because God is a mighty Lord, and a great King, above all gods; the Lord will not reject his people; in his hand are all the bounds of the earth, and he looks down on the heights of the mountains.

Who giveth life to all things.

The sea is his, for he made it; and his hands framed the earth; come

M

ejus venite, adoremus, et procedamus ante Deum: ploremus coram Domino, quia fecit nos, quia ipse est Dominus Deus noster: nos autem populos ejus, et oves pascuæ ejus.

Regem, cui omnia vivunt, venite, adoremus.

Hodie si vocem ejus audieritis nolite obdurare corda vestra sicut in exacerbatione secundum diem tentationis in deserto: ubi tentaverunt me Patres vestri, probaverunt et viderunt opera mea. Venite, adoremus.

Quadraginta annis proximus fui generationi huic, et dixi: Semper hi errant corde ipsi vero non cognoverunt vias meas; quibus juravi in ira mea, si introibunt in requiem

meam.

Regum, cui omnia vivunt, venite, adoremus.

Requiem æternam dona eis, Domine; et lux perpetua luceat eis.

then, let us adore, and fall prostrate before God, let us weep in the presence of the Lord, who made us, because he is the Lord our God; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Come, let us adore the Lord, our king, who giveth life to all things.

If this day you should hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as you did when you provoked him in the desert; where your fathers tempted me, they tried and saw my works.

Who giveth life to all things.

I was forty years with this race of men, and said: The hearts of this people are always straying: but they have not known my ways: and I swore to them in my wrath, that they should not enter the abode of my rest.

Come, let us adore the Lord, our king, who giveth life to all things.

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord: and may the perpetual light of glory shine upon them.

[blocks in formation]

Anthem. Guide my steps, O Lord, my God, to walk in thy presence.

Psalm 5.

Give ear, O Lord, to my words, understand my cry. Hearken to the voice of my prayer, O my King and my God.

For to thee will I pray: O Lord, in the morning thou shalt hear my voice.

In the morning I will stand before thee, and will see because thou art not a God that willest iniquity. Neither shall the wicked dwell near thee, nor shall the unjust abide before thy eyes.

Thou hatest all the workers of iniquity: thou wilt destroy all that speak a lie.

The bloody and the deceitful man the Lord will abhor.

But as for me in the multitude of thy mercy, I will come into thy house; I will worship towards thy holy temple, in thy fear.

Conduct me, O Lord, in thy justice: because of my enemies, direct my way in thy sight.

For there is no truth in their mouth: their heart is vain.

Their throat is an open sepulchre: they dealt deceitfully with their tongues: judge them, O God.

Let them fall from their devices: according to the multitude of their wickednesses cast them out : for they have provoked thee, O Lord.

But let all them be glad that hope in thee: they shall rejoice for ever, and thou shalt dwell in them. And all they that love thy name shall glory in thee:

For thou wilt bless the just.

O Lord, thou hast crowned us, as with a shield of thy good will.

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord.

And may the perpetual light of glory shine upon them.

This Versicle is said at the end of every Psalm. Anthem. Guide my steps O Lord, my God, to walk in thy presence.

Anthem. Incline to me, O Lord, and deliver my soul; for in death there is no one mindful of thee.

Psalm 6.

O Lord, rebuke me not in thy indignation, nor chastise me in thy wrath.

Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak: heal me, O Lord, for my bones are troubled.

And my soul is troubled exceedingly: but thou, O Lord, how long?

Turn to me, O Lord, and deliver my soul: O save me for thy mercy's sake.

For there is no one in death, that is mindful of thee: and who shall confess to thee in hell?

I have laboured in my groanings, every night I will wash my bed: I will water my couch with my tears. My eye is troubled through indignation: I have grown old amongst all my enemies.

Depart from me all ye workers of iniquity: for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

The Lord hath heard my supplication: the Lord hath received my prayer.

Let all my enemies be ashamed, and be very much

troubled let them be turned back, and be ashamed very speedily.

Eternal rest, &c.

Anthem. Incline to me, O Lord, and deliver my soul, for in death there is no one mindful of thee.

Anthem. Protect me, lest the enemy seize on my soul, like a lion, while there is none to rescue or to

save me.

Psalm 7.

O Lord my God, in thee have I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me. Lest at any time he seize upon my soul like a lion, while there is no one to redeem me, nor to save.

O Lord my God, if I have done this thing, if there be iniquity in my hands:

If I have rendered to them that repaid me evils, let me deservedly fall empty before my enemies.

Let the enemy pursue my soul, and take it, and tread down my life on the earth, and bring down my glory to the dust.

Rise up, O Lord, in thy anger: and be thou exalted in the borders of my enemies.

And arise, O Lord my God, in the precept which thou hast commanded and a congregation of people shall surround thee.

:

And for their sakes return thou on high. The Lord judgeth the people.

Judge me, O Lord, according to my justice, and according to my innocence in me.

The wickedness of sinners shall be brought to nought and thou shalt direct the just the searcher of hearts and reins is God.

Just is my help from the Lord who saveth the upright of heart.

God is a just judge, strong and patient is he angry every day?
