This book is not a new commentary, but a study in poetic word-order with illustrations from the Odes, Carmen Seculare, and Epodes of Horace, intended to be used side by side with any edition of the poet. The author's aim is to show that word-order is no more negligible in poetry than it is in prose, and that the rules laid down by Prof. J. P. Postgate and exemplified by the author in certain Livian studies are observed by the poet no less than by the writer of prose.
