THE want of a short and cheap Treatise on the Common Prayer Book, and the utility of drawing the attention of the Laity to its history and meaning, have originated the following compilation. To Students in Divinity, preparing for Holy Orders, or for Theological Examinations, it will be found useful, both as an introduction to more extended Liturgical reading, and as an assistance to the memory in retaining what has been perused. To Churchmen in general, who have not time nor inclination to investigate. this important subject very deeply, it will afford a brief, and it is hoped, a clear, elucidation of those matters on which all educated members of the Church ought to be informed.
