The Lord shall preserve thy going out, and thy coming in, From this time forth, and even for evermore. XCVII I WAS GLAD WHEN THEY SAID Psalm cxxii. WAS glad when they said unto me, Lord. Our feet shall stand Within thy gates, O Jerusalem. As a city that is compact together: Whither the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, To give thanks unto the name of the Lord. For there are set thrones of judgment, The thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem : And prosperity within thy palaces. For my brethren and companions' sakes, XCVIII THEY THAT TRUST IN THE LORD Psalm cxxv. HEY that trust in the Lord Shall be as mount Zion, which As the mountains are round about So the Lord is round about his people For the rod of the wicked shall not rest upon the lot of the righteous; Lest the righteous put forth their hands unto iniquity. Do good, O Lord, unto those that be good, And to them that are upright in their hearts. As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, The Lord shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: But peace shall be upon Israel. XCIX WHEN THE LORD TURNED AGAIN Psalm cxxvi. HEN the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, We were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, And our tongue with singing: Then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them. The Lord hath done great thing for us; Turn again our captivity, O Lord, As the streams in the south. They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, Shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. C DE PROFUNDIS Psalm cxxx. UT of the depths have I cried unto thee, O Lord. Lord, hear my voice: Let thine ears be attentive To the voice of my supplications. If thou, Lord, shouldst mark ini quities, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, That thou mayest be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, And in his word do I hope. My soul waiteth for the Lord More than they that watch for the morning; I say, more than they that watch for the morning. Let Israel hope in the Lord: For with the Lord there is mercy, And with him is plenteous redemption. From all his iniquities. CI LORD, MY HEART IS NOT HAUGHTY myself, Psalm cxxxi. ORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: Neither do I exercise myself in great matters, Or in things too high for me. Surely I have behaved and quieted As a child that is weaned of his mother: Let Israel hope in the Lord From henceforth and for ever. CII BEHOLD HOW GOOD AND HOW Psalm cxxxiii. EHOLD, how good and how pleasant it is For brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, That ran down upon the beard, Even Aaron's beard; That went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, And as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: For there the Lord commanded the blessing, Even life for evermore. CIII BY THE RIVERS OF BABYLON Psalm cxxxvii. Y the rivers of Babylon, There we sat down; yea, we wept, Upon the willows in the midst thereof. For there they that carried us away captive required of us a song; And they that wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord's song In a strange land? If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, Let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember thee, Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; If I prefer not Jerusalem Above my chief joy. Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom In the day of Jerusalem; Who said, Rase it, rase it, Even to the foundation thereof. O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; Happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee As thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones Against the stones. |
