Submission of Robert, abbot of Bardeney, and the convent of the same, to the judgment of the archbishop in regard to the payment of thraves in the parish of Hundmanby and the excommunication of the rector; and the appointment of Master Robert de Holtham as their attorney, with a ratification of all that had been done in the matter by brother Richard de Askeby,

Appointment Fo. 10. by the prior and convent of Bridlington of Richard de Skefteling, a canon of their house, and Henry de Bridelington, clerk, as their proctors in the cause between them and the abbot and convent of Bardeney about the thraves of St. John of Beverley in the parish of Hundmanby and its chapels; and the ratification of the submission of the matter to the judgment of the archbishop, which was made on Saturday after the Invention of the Holy Cross, 1299.

Grant by Thomas, provost, and the canons of Beverley, with the assent of archb. Thurstin, to the canons of Bridlington of two sheaves or 2d from each plough in the parishes of Bridlington and Hunmanby. Confirmation, addressed to the faithful of the Austriding, by Thurstin, the provost, and the canons of St. John of Beverley to the canons of St. Mary of Brid[lington] of the alms, belonging to the church of Beverley in the parishes of Brid[lington] and Hundmanby, namely, two thraves or 2d from each plough in each vill of the said parishes, as determined in the charters of either church from the time of provost Thomas (1108-1132). Witnesses, William, the dean of York, Simon, Ralph, Roger, canons of Beverley, Alvered the sacrist, [Hardulf, Richard de Verli, Hervey de Everle], Albert the butler (pincerna), Ivo, John de Melsa, Seer, William de Raganilthorp, Nigel [son of Kymon].3

Precibus vestris de interdicto vestre ecclesie de Wylford' relaxando et de retinendis ejusdem fructibus in sequestro, vivo (sic) vocis oraculo Londoniis nobis factis, annuimus et fecimus favorabiliter quod rogastis. Set quod scribitis ut tocius relaxato sequestro usque ad quintam retineatur, fieri non poterit absque culpa. Regales quidem cicius nobis et levius quam alteri culpam imponerent, et in talibus eciam penam infligere cogitarent, unde melius est ut, sicut pro ceteris bonis vestris factum est, fiat similiter et in istis. 91. 17 kal. Aug. (July 16), 1297......by Neuwerk'. Licence to [Master Henry de Maunn Jesfeld, rector of Flintham, to study for one year.3

92. 1297. Commission to the official of York to try the cases between the vicar of Blida and the prior and convent

"Sar' electo " crossed out. Simon of Ghent, canon of Salisbury and York, was elected bishop of Salisbury, June 2, 1297, and consecrated Aug. 4. His commendation to Wilford is dated May 13, 1268. (Giffard's Register, p. 88).
