The foregoing account, No. 1, containing only those parishes which have a population exceeding 2000, and of which the Churches will not accommodate more than one-half of the population; it has been thought that it might be satisfactory, for the sake of illustrating the reasoning in page 7, and the following pages, to subjoin a complete account of all the population of England, divided according to the different dioceses, and showing the number of benefices in each, with the total population, and the average population in each benefice; and also the number of persons which may be accommodated in the present Churches and Chapels in each diocese. |
