E live in an Age, that glories in the Denomination of the Age of Liberty. Men now claim a Right, and take the Liberty, to dispute every thing that comes in their Way, and to pass what Cenfures they please upon Things, by wifer Heads treated with the profoundest Reverence. Many have taken the Liberty to caft off all Regard for revealed Religion, while various others, who pretend to have a fincere Regard for the Christian Inftitution, and to be Members of the Church of England itself, have departed from her Faith, and prefumed to condemn fome of her moft folemn Forms. Whifton and Clarke have drawn them out of fome of the Paths, in which their tender Mother, the Church, had inftructed them to walk; and yet, which is an Inftance P 5

not only of their Difobedience to her Decrees, but of their own Inconfiftency too, they pay a devout Respect, at leaft in Pretence and Appearance, to her Dictates in fome Inftances, while they dare openly to contradict and defpife her in others, of equal, if not greater, Importance. This Behaviour is fo full of Contradictions, and scandalous Double-dealing, and is fo like Judas's faying, Hail Mafter, while the Kifs was defigned to betray him, that every obedient Son and faithful Member of the orthodox Church of England, cannot but look upon it with the utmost Grief and Indignation.

The Church, as a tender Mother, with yearning Bowels, aloud calls them to return to the Faith fhe taught them, but which they are now undermining, and deftroying. If they will not hear, and be reclaimed, the muft renounce them, and all Relation to them. Her faithful, and learned Sons and Champions, the Waterlands, the Knights, the Berrimans, and others, whofe Names future Generations will have Caufe to remember, have manfully defended her facred Doctrines, and Articles of Faith. Thefe and other orthodox Sons of the Church of England do, with the greatest Confiftency and Sincerity, join in all her eftablifhed
