ADVERTISEMENT TO THE SECOND EDITION. THE arrangement of the present edition is somewhat different from the first. Those parts not exactly connected with the details of the wreck, &c., and which may have appeared to break in upon the attention of the reader, are placed at the end of the work. The account of the "Public Meetings on the loss of the Rothsay Castle," and the " Biographical Notices of some of those who perished," are omitted; the former comprising information chiefly of a local nature, the latter being more particularly matter of interest to the relatives and friends of the deceased. Several new incidents have been introduced, and every effort has been made to render this edition acceptable to the general reader. Manchester, January 1, 1834.
