This is a historical overview of folk dance ensembles in Los Angeles and the Orange Counties. It stretches back fifty years and examines groups such as Krakusy, Podhale, G rale, and Polskie Iskry; popular Polish dances like G ralski, Zb jnicki, Krakowiak, Kujawiak, and the Polka; and the relationship between Polish models of these dances and their interpretation by modern American ensembles today.

Górale Dancers ( Orange County ) The history of the Polish folk dance group now
known as “ Górale Dancers ” dates back to 1953 " and the group actually pre -
dates the emergence of Krakusy in Los Angeles . At that time , the Commissioner

well into the 1980s , the ensemble used the name Mazur - Polish Folk Dancers ...
Górale also performed for the San Pedro Fisherman ' s Festival of Lights , at the
Pomona Fair , at the Los Angeles County ... In 1997 and 1998 , Górale
participated in holiday festivities at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in
Simi Valley .
