Groups in Conflict: Prisons in DisguiseKendall/Hunt Publishing Company, 1982 - 258 strán (strany) The first part of this book describes an anthropological study of an artificial society created when a group of strangers are randomly divided into three groups (Elite, Ins and Outs) and the power struggles that evolve. The second part is an analysis of relations among groups with differential power. The third part is a case study of a real social system (a school district) at work. Groups in Conflict is a readable book which raises some interesting thoughts on group conflict and the behaviours of the powerful and the relatively powerless. The author identifies with those in the middle group and ends the book with a realisation and confession of his identification as a "middle". |
