(1) Dr. Lightfoot obferves that this Expreffion, The laft Days, in exceeding many Places of the Old and New Teftament, ftands not for the End of the World, but the last Days of Ferufalem, and the Jewish State. It may likewife fignifie the Time of the Meffiah, beginning after his Refurrection and Afcenfion. Sometimes this Expreflion ftands for the latter Part of thofe Days, a Time remote from the first Ages of the Gospel. In this Senfe I conceive it is to be understood, Ifa. 2. 2. Hof. 3. 5.

Old-Teftament, yet they are frequently mentioned by other Authors, oth Jews and Heathens. They were queftionlefs thofe, or the chief along thofe Magicians who withstood Mofes in the Miracles he wrought beore Pharaoh. Some have faid, they were the two Sons of Balaam; others, is Scholars; others again, the two Servants who attended him when he ent to curfe the Ifraelites, Numb. 22. 22.

(1) Because it may be of ufe, efpecially to Candidates for holy Orders, will from the holy Scriptures fet down the Character of a good Minifter f Chrift.

It is required that he be of good Report; that he fhew himfelf a Pattern fgood Works, being of a blameless Converfation. He must not be Self-willed, or foon angry, nor given to Wine. He must be no Striker, nor given to filthy cre; but a lover of good Men, fober, juft, holy, temperate, gentle unto 1 Men, apt to teach, patient. He renounces the hidden things of Difnefty, not walking in craftinefs, but by the Manifeftation of the Truth he ommends himself to every Man's Confcience in the Sight of God. He eks not fo much his own Profit, as the Profit of many, that they may be
