"His mode of telling the story of his life' is just his fireside talk. It is an autobiography in the sense of stating the leading scenes in which his wanderings have been performed-telling the stories that most entertained, and describing the men who most impressed him. It is therefore interesting in an extraordinary degree.”— From Introduction, by Rev. W. Arthur, M.A. "Here we must reluctantly bring our selections from this interesting volume to a close: it is not often, certainly, that one meets with a Methodist preacher, who has so much that is amusing as well as instructive to detail, any more than with a blind man who displays such skill as Mr. Milburn's in painting a world of which all he sees are but dim and faint glimpses."-PRESS, Oct. 8, 1859.
