MONDAY MORNING.

Let the Head of the Family, or whoever ministers in it, read one or more of the following sentences of the Scriptures.

THEREFORE will the Lord wait, that he may be gracious unto you, and therefore will he be exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of Judgement; blessed are all they that wait for him. Isaiah xxx. 18.

If the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die. Ezekiel xviii. 21.

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for their's is the kingdom of Heaven. Matthew v. 3.

Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. James iv. 8.

This is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: and if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1 John v. 14. 15.

Then let him say,

Then let one or more of these Psalms be said; he and the whole family alternately repeating the verses.

PSALM I.

PRAISE FOR PRESERVATION.

1. I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvellous works. 2. I will be glad and rejoice in thee: I will sing praise to thy name, O Thou most High. ix. 1, 2.

3. For thou, O Lord, art a Shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of head.

4. I cried unto the Lord with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill.

5. I laid me down and slept; I awaked, for the Lord sustained me. iii. 3-5.

6. The Lord is the portion of mine inheritance, and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot.

7. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.

8. I will bless the Lord who hath given me counsel; my reins also instruct me in the night

seasons.

9. I have set the Lord always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. xvi. 5,-8.

10. I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. xiii. 5.

11. My soul, wait thou only upon God, for my expectation is from him. lxii. 5.

12. Thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy. lxi. 3.

13. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. xviii. 2.

14. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me. xiii 6.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

PSALM II.

PRAISE FOR REDEMPTION.

1. O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

2. When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained;

3. What is man that thou art mindful of him? And the Son of man, that thou visitest him?

4. For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour. viii. 1, 3, 4, 5.

5. The Lord looked down from heaven upon the

children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

6. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy there is none that doeth good, no, not one. xiv. 2, 3.

7. There is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

v. 9.

8. There is no fear of God before their eyes.

xxxvi. 1.

9. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy.

10. He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11. As far as the East is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us. ciii. 8, 10, 12.

12. He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name. cxi. 9.

13. Mercy and truth are met together: righteousness and peace have kissed each other. lxxxv.

14. Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy and for thy

truth's sake.

PSALM III.

PRAYER FOR UNDERSTANDING OF THE

SCRIPTURES.

1. Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

2. I am a stranger in the earth; hide not thy commandments from me.

3. Make me to understand the way of thy precepts so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.

4. Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. 5. Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

6. Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes. cxix. 18, 19, 27, 34, 35, 68. Glory be, &c.

Let a portion of the Old Testament be now read, and explained, as time may allow. Then all kneeling down, let him who ministers, say, Let us pray.
