Thou shalt render thy tithe. (a)

EXPLANATION.

(a) Heb. 7 chap. 1 & 2 ver. "Abraham gave a tenth part of all unto Melchisedeck, the priest of the most High God." Yet was not that priest a descendant of Abraham and Sarah, to whom the promise of the Spiritual sceptre was made, but of the Gentiles; but was acknowledged of Abraham a priest of the most High.

Genesis, 28 chap. 20 & 22 ver. “Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on; this stone which I have set for a pillar shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me I will surely give the tenth to thee.

31 chap. 38 ver. 32 chap. 4 ver. And after twenty years, Jacob returned, having got much substance, menservants and women-servants, and cattle, in great abundance.

(c) Or pay money for that purpose. If an employer require thee to sign a writing that thou wilt not join any combination, thou shalt answer, I have signed a writing already unto God, that I will not do it.

Lev. 19 chap. 27 ver. "Ye shall not round the corners of y our heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard."

Lev. 21 chap. 1, 5 ver. "They shall not make bald parts upon their heads, nor shave off the locks of their beard, for the dead." 13 chap. 40 ver. "The man whose hair is fallen off his head, he is bald, he is clean."

1 Corinthians, 3 chap. 17 ver. "If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy."

Does not Paul say in 1 Cor. 11 chap, "Doth not even 14 and 15 verses. nature itself teach you, that, if a man has long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman has long hair it is a glory unto her: for her hair is given her for a covering." Question, what is nature? Answer, What man fell into; Sin. Does it not resist my commands? Does not the fallen nature of man, and the fashions of the world go together? It was fashionable for a woman to wear long hair; but a disgrace to the man, because it was not fashionable.

Luke, 12 chap. 22---30 vers. "Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat: neither for the body, what ye shall put on. For all these things do the nations of the world seek after."

For did not I say by Isaiah, 55 chap. 8 ver. "My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways."

Thou shalt not

EXPLANATION.

"For all manner of trespass, whether it be for ox, or for ass, for sheep, for raiment, or any manner of lost thing which another challengeth to be his, the cause of both parties shall come before the judge, and whom the judge shall condemn, he shall pay double to his neighbour. But if he has nothing he shall be sold for his theft." Except it be for hunger.

But if the produce of the field or orchard has been gathered, the gleanings are for the poor.

(h) Defrauding is forging, or wasting the goods of any one which thou may be entrusted with. 1 Thessalonians, 4 chap. 6 ver. It shall be counted stealing. (See 62nd Law in this Book.)

(i) To be favorable to any party, or to keep back witnesses.

Exodus, 22 chap. 7, 8, 10, and 11th vers. If a man deliver unto his neighbour, money or stuff to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; and the thief be not found; or if a man deliver unto his neighbour, a beast, to keep; and it die, or be hurt, or be driven away, no man seeing it: In both cases the head of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour's goods.

13 and 12th vers. If it be a beast, and be torn, let him bring it for a witness, and he shall not make good that which was torn. If it be stolen from him, he shall nake restitution unto the owner thereof.
