Extracts from the Rules.

"The Philological Society is formed for the investigation of the Structure, the Affinities, and the History of Languages; and the Philological Illustration

of the Classical Writers of Greece and Rome.

"Each Member shall pay two guineas on his election, one guinea as entrancefee and one guinea for his first year's contribution. The Annual Subscription shall become due on the 1st of January in each year. Any Member may compound for his contributions by the payment of Ten Guineas, exclusive of his entrance-fee."

Members are entitled to two copies of all Papers issued by the Society, and to attend, and introduce a friend to, the Meetings of the Society on the second and fourth Friday in every month, from November to June. Applications for admission should be made to either of the Honorary Secretaries, or to the Assistant-Secretary, Mr. John Nash, at 12 St. James's Square.
