THE FORTY-FIFTH ANNUAL MEETING of the American Unitarian Association was held on Tuesday morning, May 24th, at the Hall of Massachusetts Charitable Mechanic Association, corner of Bedford and Chauncy Streets. The meeting was called to order at half-past nine. Hon. SETH PADELFORD, of Providence, R.I., Vice-President, in the chair.

Prayer was offered by Rev. A. B. MUZzEy, after which the records of the last meeting were read by Mr. GEORGE W. Fox, Assistant Secretary.

Rev. E. E. Hale, on behalf of an informal meeting of members of the Association, held the day before, suggested an order of business, which was agreed to ; and, as part of the same recommendation, it was voted to dispense with the reading of the annual reports, which were submitted in print. (See page 43.)

CHARLES C. SMITH, Esq., Treasurer, then made the following explanation:

I understand that some gentlemen are desirous of further information on one item of the Treasurer's Report, and I therefore ask permission to read the following items, which make up the amount under the head of “expenses.” The salary of the Secretary
