SPECIAL OPERATIONS. 2 Cor. iv, 6. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. NEWNESS OF LIFE. Rom. xili, 14. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. 2 Cor. v, 17. Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are be come new. Eph. iv, 20--25. But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light. Rom. vi, 1, 2, 6, 11, 13. What shall we say then? Shall we con tinue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any Knowing this, longer therein? that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Neither yield you your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin; but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light. Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. Col. ii, 13. And you, being dead your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, bath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses, righteousness, and true holiness. in Col. iii, 9--11. Lie not one to an- 2 Cor. vi, 1. We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2 Cor. vii, 1,2. Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, Scy-perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defraud REGENERATION. John i, 12, 13. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. This I say then, walk in the spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 2 Tim. ii, 1. Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. Jude 20, 21. Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe? 1 Tim. 1, 16. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all long-suffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting. Heb. xi, 1, 2, 6. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Heb. xii, 25. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh; for if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven. 1 John v, 1, 13. He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. Luke xii, 9. But he that denieth me before men, shall be denied before the angels of God. John xii, 42. If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us. UNBELIEF AND ITS Exod. iv, 1. And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken unto my voice: for they will say, The LORD hath not appeared unto thee. Num. xi, 21-23. And Moses sald, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month. Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them? And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD's hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not. Num. xx, 12, 13. And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron, Because ye believed me not, to sanctify me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore ye shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. This is the water of Meribah; because the children of Israel strove with the LORD, and he was sanctided in them. Ps. III, 7. Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness. Ps. lxxviii, 32, 33. For all this Ps. cxvi, 11. I said in my haste, Acts xxviii, 24. And some be- Rom. x, 16, 17. But they have not all obeyed the gospel: for Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our réport? So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Heb. iii, 18, 19. And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not? So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief. Heb. iv, 2, 6. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief. John 1, 11. He came unto his own, and his own received him not. John v, 38.41,43. And ye have not his word abiding in you; for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. I receive not honour from men. John xvi, 9. Of sin, because CONNECTION OF FAITH WITH Gen. xv, 6. And he believed in 1 Sam. xxx 6. Ps. cxvi, 10. I believed, therefore have I spoken: I was greatly afflicted. Ps. CXXV, 1. They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abideth for ever. Isa. xxvi, 3. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isa. Ivii, 13. When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall inherit my holy mountain. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John v, 24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ile that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. John vi, 40, 47. And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that Rom. v, 1, 2. Therefore, being 2 Cor. i, 24. Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand. Gal. iii, 6-9. Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. Eph. ii, 8. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God. Titus ill, 7. For therein is the one of a thousand. JUSTIFICATION NOT BY WORKS. Job ix, 2, 3. I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?
