PREFACE.

SINCE the last issue of the Burns Chronicle, Great Britain and her Allies have passed, with unabated spirit and unflinching determination, through the ordeal of a twelvemonth of war unprecedented in the history of the world for insensate savagery and demoniac outrage of all the canons of human civilisation. The end-the sure and certain victorious end-is not yet; it therefore behoves the units of the Federation everywhere to hold their business meetings as usual, and to respond to all appeals to the loyalty of the Empire as fully and freely as their rolls of honour prove they have done in the past.

We again tender our thanks to all who have assisted us in compiling this-the semi-jubilee-number of the Chronicle, in the confident assurance that ere another i issue the dark clouds will have been dissipated, and the victory of right against might secured for generations to come.

BENRIG, KILMAURS,

January 1st, 1916.

D. M'NAUGHT.
