fence and whofoever believeth on himoufy by them that are no people, and by fhall not be ashamed. a foolish nation I will anger you.

CHAP. X.

1 The difference of the righteousness of the law,and that of faith. Nobeliever ball be confounded, whether Jew or Gentile, BRETHREN, my heart's defire and prayer to God for Ifrael is, that they might be faved.

2 For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3For they being ignorant of God's rightcoufnefs,and going about to establish their own righteoufnefs, have not fubmitted themselves unto the righteoufnefs of God. 4 For Chrift is the end of the law for righteoufnefs to every one that believeth. 5 ForMofes defcribeth the righteoufnefs which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things thall live by them.

6 But the righteoufnefs which is of faith fpeaketh on this wife, Say not in thine Heart, Who shall afcend into heaven? that is, to bring Chrift down from above.

7 Or, Who fhall defcend into the deep? that is, to bring up Chrift again from the dead.

8 But, What faith it? the word is nigh thee,even in thy mouth,and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confefs with thy mouth the Lord Jefus, and halt believe in thine heart that God hath raifed him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteoufnefs; and with the mouth confeffion is made unto falvation.

11 For the fcripture faith, Whofoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference betweenthe Jew and the Greek for the fame Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whofoever fhall call upon the name of the Lord shall be faved.

14 How then fhall they call on him in whom they have not believed? And, How fhall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? And, How shall they hear without a preacher ?

15 And, How hall they preach, except they be fent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gofpel of peace, and bring glad tiding of good things!

16 But they have not all obeyed the gofpel. For Efaias faith, Lord, Who hath believed our report?

17 So then faith comerb by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

18 But I fay, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their found went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

I

21 But to Ifrael he faith, All day long have ftretched forth my hands unto a difobedient and gainfaying people. CHAP. XI.

1 God hath not caft off all Ifrael. 7 Some were elected, the rest were bardened. 18 The Gentiles may not infult upon them. I SAY then, hath God caft away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Ifraelite, of the feed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

2 God hath not caft away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the fcripture faith of Elias? How he maketh interceffion to God against Ifrael, faying,

3 Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they feek my life.

But, What faith the answer of God Junto him? I have reserved to myself fev. en thoufand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

5 Even fo then at this present time alfo there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwife grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwife work is no more work.

7 What then? Ifrael hath not ob

tained that which he feeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded.

8 According as it is written, God hath given them the fpirit of lumber, eyes that they should not fee, and ears that they fhould not hear, unto this day.

9 And David faith, Let their table be made a fnare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompenfe unto them:

10 Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not fee, and bow down their back alway.

11 I fay then, Have they ftumbled that they should fall God forbid : but rather through their fall falvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.

12 Now if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of them the riches of the Gentiles, How much more their fulness?

13 For I fpeak to you Gentiles, in as much as I am the apoftle of the Gentiles, magnify mine office:

14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might fave fome of them. 19 But I fay, Did not Ifrael know? First. 15 For if the cafting away of Mofes faith, I will provoke you to jeal-reconciling of theworld, What

26 And fo all Ifrael fhall be faved: as it is written, There hall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and fhall turn away ungodlinefs from Jacob;

27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their fins.

28 As concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your fakes: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers' fakes.

29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

30 For as ye in times paft have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief;

31 Even fo have thefe alfo now not believed, that through your mercy they alfo may obtain mercy.

52 For God hath concluded them all in unbelief, that he might have mercy upon all.

2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

3¶ For I fay, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think foberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the fame office :

5 So we, being many, are one body in Chrift, and every one members one of another.

6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophefy, let us propbefy according to the proportion of faith;

7 Or miniftry, let us wait on our minif tering or he that teacheth, on teaching;

8 Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation; he that giveth, let him do it with fimplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that theweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

9 Let love be without diffimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love in honour preferring one another;

11 Not flothful in business; fervent in fpirit; ferving the Lord;

12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation continuing inftant in prayer;

13 Diftributing to the neceflity of faints; given to hofpitality.

14 Blefs them which perfecute you; blefs, and curfe not.

15 Rejoice with them that do rejoice; and weep with them that weep.

16 Be of the fame mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condefcend to men of low eftate. Be not wife in your own conceits.

17 Recompenfe to no man evil for evil. Provide things honeft in the fight of all men.

1 Of duties to magiftrates. 8 Love is the fulfilling of the law. 11 Again gluttony, drunkenness, and the works of darkness. LET every foul be fabject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are or dained of God.

2 Whofoever therefore refifteth the power, refifteth the ordinance of God

14 But put ye on the Lord Jefus Chrift, and make not provifion for the flesh, to fulfil the lufts thereof. XIV.

CHAP.

Men may not contemn or condemn one another for things indifferent, 15 but take beed of giving offence in them. HIM that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

3 Let not him that eateth defpife him that eateth not: and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth for God hath received him.

Who art thou that judgeft another man's fervant? To his own mafter he fland

and they that refift shall receive to them-eth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: felves damnation.

3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praife of the fame:

4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the fword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

5 Wherefore ye must needs be fubject, not only for wrath, but alfo for confcience fake.

6 For for this cause pay ye tribute alfo: for they are God's minifters, attending continually upon this very thing.

7 Render therefore to all their dues; tribute to whom tribute is due; cuftom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.

for God is able to make him ftand.

5 One man efteemeth one day above another; another efteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully perfuaded in his own mind.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.

9 For to this end Chrift both died, and rofe, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

10 But, Why doft thou judge thy 8 Owe no man any thing, but to brother? Or, Why doft thou fet at love one another: for he that loveth an-nought thy brother? For we shall all other hath fulfilled the law.

(tand before the judgment feat of Chrift. 11 For it is written, As I live, faith the Lord, every knee hall bow to me, and every tongue fhall confels to God.

9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not fteal, Thou shalt not bear falfe witnefs, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any 12 So then every one of us fhall give other commandment, it is briefly com-account of himself to God. prehended in this faying, namely, Thou 15 Let us not therefore judge one halt love thy neighbour as thy felf. another any more: but judge this rather, 10 Love worketh no ill to his neigh-that no man put a ftumbling block or an bour therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

11 And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of fleep for now is our falvation nearer than when we believed.

12 The night is far fpent, the day is at hand let us therefore caft off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.

18 Let us walk honeftly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkennefs, not in

occafion to fall in bis brother's way.

14 I know and am perfuaded by the Lord Jefus, that there is nothing unclean of itfelf: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.

15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkeft thou not charita bly. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Chrift died.

16 Let not then your good be evil fpoken of:

19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

20 For meat deftroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

22 Haft thou faith? Have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condem. neth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because be eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is fin.

CHAP. XV.

15 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in fome fort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God.

16 That I fhould be the minifter of Jefus Chrift to the Gentiles, miniftering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being fanctified by the Holy Ghoft.

17 I have therefore whereof I may glory through Jefus Chrift in those things which pertain to God.

18 For I will not dare to fpeak of any of thofe things which Chrift hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,

19 Through mighty figns and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; fo 1 The firong mußt bear with the weak. 2 that from Jerufalem, and round about, We may not please ourselves: 7 but re-unto Illyricum, I have fully preached ceive one another, as Chrift did us all. the gofpel of Chrift. 2 Let every one of us please bis neighbour for his good to edification.

8 For even Chrift pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.

For whatfoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning: that we through patience and comfort of the fcriptures might have hope.

5 Now the God of patience and confolation grant you to be like minded one to ward another, according to Chrift Jefus: 6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jefus Chrift.

7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Chrift alfo received us to the glory of God.

8 Now I fay that Jefus Chrift was a Minifter of the circumcifion for the truth of God, to confirm the promites made unto the fathers:

9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy; as it is written. For this caufe I will confefs to thee among the Gentiles, and fing unto thy name.

10 And again he faith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people.

21 But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall fee and they that have not heard fhall understand.

25 But now I go unto Jerufalem to minifter unto the faints.

26 For it hath pleased them of Macedonia, and Achaia, to make a certain contribution for the poor faints which are at Jerufalem.

27 It hath pleafed them werily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their fpiritual things, their duty is alfo to minifter unto them in carnal things

28 When therefore I have performed this, and have fealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain,
