Dry Snuffs.-These derive their characteristic property from being dried at a high temperature. Scotch, Irish, and Welsh, are well-known high-dried snuffs. The last contains lime, the particles of which may be usually distinguished by the naked eye. Hence its desiccating effect on the pituitary membrane. Spanish snuff is also a dry snuff. b.
